Introduction

Year 11 school leavers can start work or training full-time after the last Friday in June. You need to register for work at your local Connexions Centre. We will help you to find a job and/or a training place.

16 and 17 year-olds cannot usually get benefits. You can ask about benefits when you register for work at your local Connexions Centre. It is the Jobcentre Plus office who decide whether or not you can get any benefits.

If you leave school for work or training it may affect your family benefits. Child benefit may be stopped and other benefits may be reduced. Your parents or carers can contact your local Jobcentre Plus Office for more information.
