HE Finance
How much will it cost? As a higher education student you will have two main costs to meet: - tuition fees - what your course costs to attend
- living costs - for accommodation, food, travel, clothes, study materials and leisure activities.
To help you think about what it will cost and how you can finance your studies look on Uni4me. What financial help can I get? Student Loans - all eligible students can apply for help with tuition fees and living costs through Student Loans. There are two Student Loans available per academic year: - a Student Loan for Tuition Fees - to cover the cost of your tuition fees in full
- a Student Loan for Maintenance - to help with accommodation and other living costs. How much you get depends on your household income.
Student Loans have to be paid back when you've left your course and are earning over £15,000. Grants and Bursaries - around a third of new students are expected to qualify for the full Maintenance Grant or Special Support Grant, and around a further third for a partial grant. Bursaries are extra sources of help from individual universities. Grants and bursaries do not have to be repaid. Detailed information about financial help is available on Direct.gov.
