Working Hours

Under the Working Time (Amendment) Regulations 2002, young people aged 16 and 17 are not allowed to work over a set number of hours per week. The same legislation also restricts the time of day a young person can work – however exceptions can apply in particular circumstances in the case of certain kinds of employment.  At age 18, workers are subject to the same regulations as other adult workers.
